RELIGION
The spiritual life of a community enriches and brings diver-
sity to any town. Casper has many places of worship that
encompass all faiths—there is something for every believer.
Casper has a range of Christian churches, including Bap-
tist, Catholic, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints,
Episcopalian, Lutheran, Methodist, Presbyterian, and more.
Casper also has Temple Beth El, which represents Casper’s
Jewish population. There are over 60 church congregations
in Casper. For a complete list of worship options, visit the
Casper Chamber of Commerce website at www.casperwyo-
ming.org/relocation.
EXPLORING THE STATE
Caspers has an ideal location in the center of the state. This
makes it a great place to visit neighboring towns and tourist
attractions. Over a weekend you can cover many nearby cit-
ies by car. You can visit Devils Tower in northeast Wyoming
in just three and a half hours. This impressive rock monolith,
rising 1,267 feet above the Wyoming plains, is a sacred site
for many Native Americans. You can walk the trail circum-
navigating the tower and also camp at the site.
A little further east from there lies the Mount Rushmore
monument in the Black Hills of neighboring South Dakota.
The nation’s frst national park, Yellowstone National Park,
is in Wyoming at its northwest border. You can travel to the
south entrance of the park through the town of Jackson
Hole, or enter the park from its east entrance through Cody,
Wyoming. Both these stops have their own appeal.
Yellowstone contains some of the world’s most extraor-
dinary geothermal wonders, including the famous Old
Faithful geyser, which still goes off regularly to the amaze-
ment of its visitors. It is also the home of a large variety of
wildlife, spanning from grizzly bears to wolves, bison and
elk. In addition to its naturally scenic beauty and wildlife,
the park is a vacationer’s paradise. It offers wonderful camp-
sites, great lodging, backpacking, fshing, horseback riding,
whitewater rafting, boating and other opportunities for
adventures.
Grand Teton National Park is an additional bonus in the
region. The Teton Range is one of the most beautiful and
impressive sites, rising starkly from the fat plains near the
Snake River into the blue Wyoming skies. The Teton Village
is not only a popular ski area, but it is the site of the annual
Teton Music Festival, a world famous event that draws musi-
cians and conductors from around the world. The whole re-
gion is known for its world-class ski slopes and winter sports
and is a large contributor to Wyoming’s tourist dollars. Fees
must be paid for park, recreational, camping and lodging.
The University of Wyoming in Laramie is only two and a half
hours away from Casper and is especially popular with resi-
dents and alums alike during college football and basket-
ball season. You can visit the “made-famous by the writer
Owen Wister” Virginian Hotel on the way in the town of
Medicine Bow.
